Why We Chose Mr. Coco
When we started Tropico, we knew one thing very clearly:
we didn’t want to build another cybersecurity company that looked, sounded, and felt the same as all the others.
Dark backgrounds. Aggressive language. Fear-driven messaging.
Security that feels complex, intimidating, and reserved for experts only.
That world didn’t represent us and it didn’t represent the future we wanted to build.
Doing Security Differently
At Tropico, we believe great security should create value immediately.
It should be:
-
Smart, but simple
-
Powerful, but approachable
-
Effective without requiring deep technical expertise
You shouldn’t need to be a hacker to deploy deception.
You shouldn’t need to be a security veteran to protect your network.
That’s why we focus on easy-to-use, intelligent deception, security that works out of the box, reveals threats early, and gives you clarity instead of complexity.
And that philosophy needed a face.

Enter Mr. Coco
We chose Mr. Coco because he represents exactly what we believe security should be.
Mr. Coco is a mole.
A mole doesn’t attack head-on.
A mole doesn’t make noise.
A mole digs quietly, explores deeply, and understands what’s happening beneath the surface.
That’s also what a great hacker does.
Hackers don’t storm the perimeter, they infiltrate it.
They move laterally.
They probe, observe, and hide underground while learning where the weak spots are.
In that sense, Mr. Coco is the alter ego of a hacker.
A Hacker… on the Good Side
Our team has spent years on the other side of the fence.
We’ve broken things.
We’ve explored systems from the inside.
We know how attackers think, because we’ve thought that way ourselves.
But Tropico exists to turn that mindset into protection.
Mr. Coco represents the ethical hacker, the one who goes underground before the attacker does.
He finds the weak spots before the hacker does and can place strategic defensive decoys to prevent exploits.
He is the hacker mindset, redirected toward defense.
Friendly by Design
We also wanted to challenge another assumption:
that cybersecurity has to be dark, scary, and exclusive.
Our product isn’t just for deeply technical people.
It’s for teams who want protection without friction.
For organizations who want to deploy decoys easily and see value immediately.
So we chose a mascot that feels:
-
Recognizable
-
Approachable
-
Trustworthy
Mr. Coco is a friendly guide in a complex space.
When you see him, you know you’re not dealing with fear-based security, you’re dealing with thoughtful, preemptive protection based on next gen deception.
